Funny things my kid said.

My child is now 26 months old and I have yet to do his two-year-old Watch Me Grow update and letter.
Sigh.
I'm a terrible mother.
I'll eventually get to it, but not today.

Today, I'm writing down the funny things Carson has said recently.
So we can show him one day and laugh together.

The two-year-old milestone brings a lot of repetition, questions, adding possession to verbs and nouns and realizing of emotion.
It's been so fun to watch him listen, think and learn, and then communicate in his own way.

Let me tell you, two-year-olds say really funny things.
I think I've waited for this stage forever.
Kids are just too darn funny.

{When driving to school as we pass some horses}
Carson: Horseys! Horseys walking. Horseys eat grass.
Me: Yep, horses eat grass.
Carson: Ewwww. Horses eat grass. Yucky!

{As we are eating dinner at the dinner table}
Carson: Girls bras. Boys no bras.

{After seeing his teacher, Heather, with some apple juice in a cup}
Carson: Beer. Hedder drink beer.

{After Brian burps}
Carson: Scuse you daddy.

{When hearing a baby cry in the grocery store}
Carson: Baby crying. Baby sad.

{While getting his diaper changed}
Me: Whew...poopy boy!
Carson: Carson go poop. Mommy go poop.

{After Gammy puts her feet up on the living room ottoman}
Carson: No No. No shoes furn-ture!

{After a fun trip to the park with his friend Layne and her mom Tara}
Carson: I like Layney. Layney nice. Tara nice. Carson nice.

{When seeing Daddy get out of bed one morning}
Carson: Daddy, nakey boy!

Me: Carson, what's your full name?
Carson: Carson...Carson Louis Kutter
Me: Good job! What about Daddy's?
Carson: Daddy Louis Kutter
Me: No, with his first name.
Carson: Daddy...Brian Louis Kutter...Mommy Louis Kutter

{While at the park}
Carson: Mommy, I poopy boy.

{One evening while I was talking to Brian and I wasn't in the happiest mood}
Carson: Mommy grumpy girl.

Me: Let's put your hat on. It's really cold outside.
Carson: Cold. Freezing!

Carson: Scuse me. I tooted.

{After throwing up some of his dinner in the bathtub after drinking too much water from the running faucet...I know gross, but he thinks it's cool to "taste" the water while it's running}
Carson: (Scared look on his face as he stares at his food in the water) Get out mommy.
Me: It's ok honey. You just threw up from drinking too much water. We'll clean it up.
Me: I fro up. Food go down drain.

Carson: Build towers.
Me: You want to go build towers?
Carson: Yeah, big, big daddy tower!

Carson: Bubbles!
Me: Oh, you want to blow bubbles?
Carson: Yeah, big, big daddy bubbles!

Magic.

 I knew this Christmas would be special.
A year I would call the best yet.
 Where Carson would start to see just how magical Christmas really is.

I've been looking forward to experiencing these magical moments since last year.
And it happened just like I thought it would.

I saw the magic the second we put the tree up and through the entire month of December.
 The look in his young eyes and the smiles each moment created.
A special reminder of the magic Christmas brings.

 The way he carefully studied each ornament that hung on the tree.
How he got excited to turn on the Christmas tree lights every night.
When he pointed out "twees" at church, and the grocery store, and Lowe's.
When we introduced him to Christmas songs!

 How he knew each family member had a stocking and could tell you whose was whose.
The fact he knew about Santa and his reindeer, and talked about it!
How he helped me shop for loved ones, and picked out the perfect ornaments.
When I told him about Baby Jesus and His birthday.

How cookies and "tweats" got the best of him and asked for them at every meal.
When we experienced a Christmas snowfall and went sledding!
When he opened a gazillion presents and was spoiled by family.

And when he reminded us that not everything is perfect and magical by having a major meltdown in the middle of opening presents.

How we enjoyed first-time traditions at home as a family.
When we sipped hot chocolate on Christmas Eve and he wouldn't stop eating the marshmallows.
The way he opened his Christmas jammies and wasn't at all thrilled.

When we set out cookies and milk for Santa.
The way he actually listened when we read 'Twas the Night Before Christmas.
The excitement we had tucking him into bed on Christmas Eve!

And Christmas morning. Well, it was magical.

He woke up early saying two things: "stairs" and "cookies"
So we all headed downstairs to see if Santa had visited and ate the cookies we set out for him.

Our sleepy eyed boy with disheveled hair walked into the living room, as Brian and I could barely contain our excitement.

Santa Claus had come and gone.
But not before eating the cookies, drinking the milk, filling our stockings, and leaving special gifts.

The way he just stood there and stared at his bike for minutes.

Until he shyly pulled it away from the fireplace to test it out.

I don't think I'll ever forget the look on his face or the excitement in his eyes.

Truly innocent, pure and magical.

Next, he noticed the stockings.

Realizing it had been filled with goodies and treasures.

An hour had already passed, and we hadn't opened a single wrapped gift.
Me and Brian's filled stockings were still hanging.
But we didn't care.

We had all day to soak up the holiday spirit and chaos that comes with it.
It was about our boy.
And his first real experience of Christmas magic.

So the magic continued.
With a dance party in the living room to Christmas tunes.

And impromptu stops for play time with new toys.

We had pancakes for breakfast and learned to ride a bike on carpet and wood floors.
All the presents were eventually opened.

Our boy was happy.
And that's all that mattered on this Christmas morning.

It was perfect and magical and everything I had hoped for.

Carson's 2nd Birthday

My baby is two.

My sweet turkey baby that won't stop growing despite my wishes.
We celebrated very simple this year.

With different family over several weekends.
That's how it is when you're a turkey baby.
The birthday that seems to never end. I don't think he minded.

We celebrated with Gammy, Don and Big Nana at the farm.
Then, we celebrated just the three of us on his actual birthday.
Followed by an small gathering with Nana, Papa, Uncle Ryan, Aunt Amy and Maddie right after turkey day.

 There was plenty of present-opening for this two-second-attention-span child.
 It was great practice for Christmas, which came just a mere three weeks later.

Legos, blocks, work bench and tools, cars and trucks.
He was in his element, that's for sure.

Then came time for birthday cake.
Or store-bought cupcakes because mama was too lazy to bake after baking fall treats for neighbors and teachers, and hosting Thanksgiving.

I was worried he wouldn't eat the cupcake.
He hadn't shown much interest in the past.
Which had me questioning if he was my child.

Without hesitancy, he chose the red velvet cupcake (mama's favorite) and we sang.

He was fascinated with the flame and stared for a bit, but then blew it out. all. by. himself.
I was so proud.

Then, he dug in like he had never seen a cupcake before.

He was happy. We were happy.

 It was a happy day to celebrate our two year old.

13 Random Things We Did in December 2013

Guys, it's almost 2014. Can you believe it!?

I managed to do only one post in December.
ONE.
And that was our Christmas card which really doesn't count.

What kind of blogger does that? I know, I know. I'm a horrible blogger.
 But you should know by now that I always have a good excuse.

Aside from talking my husband into dressing up like Buddy the Elf (keep reading, there's evidence), we've been busy doing lots of Christmasey things and celebrating a special someones 2nd birthday!

For reals, every weekend in December has been consumed by parties, shopping, wrapping, baking, and stuffing our faces with cookies, popcorn and truffles.

So, I now offer you the most random post ever of our recent adventures.

It's OK, Random is good, right?

Simple. Short. To the point. Lots of photos. Go!

1. We attended four Christmas parties in three weeks.

Ugly sweaters, photo booths, and one classy photo for the grandmas, of course.
And...a themed house party. Christmas movie characters
Leg lamp from A Christmas Story | Buddy & Jovie from Elf | The Wet Bandits & Kevin from Home Alone

2. We took Big Boy to see Santa. Carson no likey Santa.

3. We celebrated two special little people's birthdays.
(more to come)

4. We celebrated FIVE years of marriage.

An intimate dinner Cafe Provence in Prairie Village (highly recommend).
Followed by store-bought French silk pie. We were home and in bed by 11:00.
We're old.

5. Drove to Wichita in an ice storm (with a 2-year old).

Colliding semis and shut-down highways didn't stop my crazy hubby. It took us five hours.
Wichita then got 6 inches of snow. Yipee!

6. We went to Big Nana's farm and enjoyed the Kansas wind.

7. Carson sealed the deal with his girlfriend.

8. We went to leave the house and found a surprise.
Smack dab in our driveway.

9. Carson learned how to do "duck face."

10. We gained a family member.

Sully goes everywhere with Carson these days. And gets diapers just like him.

11. He's still obsessed with shoes.

12. And now glasses.

13. We Celebrated Christmas at home for the first time.
And enjoyed first-time traditions.
(more to come)

The END.
