Bombs over Bradley

I can't believe I haven't seen any posts today about last night's The Bachelor finale. You know, the most dramatic season in Bachelor history? Pff...whatever ABC.

Not gonna lie, I'm a Bachelor fan. I always have been. My bachelor days go back to the sorority house when we would cram 30 girls into the Rec Room and all crowd around one TV to watch the drama.

I specifically remember watching Gwen get rejected by Aaron on Season 2. And they called her old on the Bachelor Pad! She may have a few years on her, but c'mon people, she is HOT!

Ok, back to last night's drama with Brad. I wasn't planning to give my opinion, really, but I changed my mind considering how things ended...err started, on After the Final Rose last night.

First things first, I have never been a huge fan of Brad. He's the guy that walked away in a previous season. Yep, this d-bag decided to go on the show twice. He's not that bad, better than Jake of course, but whatevs.

His top two picks on the other hand...great choices. I equally liked both of them, rather than my usual...loving one and not really liking the other. Emily and Chantal are very different people, but both suitable choices for Brad. It really was a win-win situation.

So, I'm chilling on my couch as he picks sweet Southern Emily and proposes (Em is the blond). They laugh, they cry, and all seems like a wonderful fairy tale. I was really happy with the result.

Until the After the Final Rose show starts and Emily starts dropping bombs!

{Insert Bombs over Baghdad song here}

They're together, but broke up once between the finale and now, they still love each other. Man-o-man is she the jealous-type. She's not ready to get married, refuses to move to Austin, admits to giving Brad major hell on Monday nights (and Tuesday mornings) after the show airs and feels he gave out too much "material".

Um, earth to Emily? Where did you go? Where's the strong but sweet, innocent, not a mean bone in her body Emily we all fell in love with on the show?

Don't get me wrong, she's still sweet and only human, but she knew exactly what she was getting into when she went on the show. The Bachelor dating multiple girls and giving out the material is the entire concept of the show.

It just seemed a little strange to me. He is most definitely into her, which was nice to see, but I didn't like how she kept saying "I love you" over and over and over. Especially after each bomb she dropped. Seemed a little forced from her side, as if she couldn't think of anything better to say to him, so she just kept saying those three little words.

I hope they work out, but don't get your hopes up. There's only three couples who have made it...in 15 seasons of The Bachelor and 6 seasons of the Bachelorette.

Clearly, this process doesn't work well. Maybe they should venture to a bar in hopes of finding the one?

There's nothing better than meeting your significant other over Old Style Pineapple and Sweet Caroline at the So Long Saloon. That's my story folks. And let me assure you, there are no bombs in our household.

Well at least not on Tuesday mornings. We stay up and fight it out on Monday nights.

Casting My Ballot

I added yet another television show to my already lengthy list.

I couldn’t help the addition of this one. I felt like I was the only one that wasn’t tuning in.

Everywhere I would turn, I would hear something about this show, see the stars in a magazine not knowing who they were, or hear my friends singing a rendition from the show.

This popular, widely talked-about show is none other than GLEE!!

Since I am freshly new this season, I wanted to give it a little time to marinate before I gave my opinion. However, after last night’s episode…

I. Am. Sold.

This show has a lot to offer: highly entertaining, witty, makes you feel good, and awesome one liners.

Last night was all about Britney. Who doesn’t love Brit Brit? She’s hot. She’s got moves. Her life is drama, drama, drama. And she keeps you wanting more. What a comeback she has made!

The cast is so talented!! I couldn’t believe how much the girls sounded like her. And I am totally loving Brittany S. Pierce (cast member Heather Morris). I did a major double take during her fantasy “Slave 4 U.” Brian even said, “Is that her?!”

Brittany S. Pierce
Britney Spears

It brought me back to my dance team days. We had a dance to Slave 4 U and we thought we were the Shiz-nit while performing it. Oh Brit, thanks for bringing out the sexy in all of us. "It’s a Britney Spears Sex Riot!" LOL!

Did anyone catch Rachel’s comment after she woke up in the dental chair? “Is this real life?” I believe it was taken from the popular circulated video of that little boy riding in the car after he went to the dentist. Too funny! David After Dentist

Can’t wait to catch up on Season one via Netflix and continue watching this season. What a fun, quirky and entertaining show!

Finally Friday!

Fridays are da bomb. It's the end of the work week, the start of the weekend and a time to breath and relax!

And, it's jeans day at work! Well, only the last Friday of every month, which happens to be today. It's the little things that excite me these days. You would think a construction company would be more laid back. Nope, not my company.

But it's also Finally Friday! at the office today. A little event we partake in where everyone goes to the rooftop mid-day to have cocktails. We have a super awesome rooftop in downtown KC.

Staying consistent with my random posts lately, here's a follow-up to a bunch of random things.

MS Ride
I'm happy to report that fundraising went GREAT for both Brian and I! We both reached our goals! Yipee! Brian actually ended up smoking me. He had some big time donations from a couple subcontractors. Thank you to everyone who supported us. We are greatly appreciative.

Now, the fact that the ride is tomorrow is totally freakin' me out!! So much for a relaxing weekend. I am super nervous. I must admit, we have not trained properly or had nearly the amount of time it takes to prepare for something like this. We are definitely excited, just unsure of how it will go. I might end up only riding one day, but in my mind, a 100 miles is a huge accomplishment.

We'll see...should be interesting and something to add to the scrapbook.

Y&R
I have not watched one second of Y&R since I called it quits. I am so proud of myself!! I really thought I would think about it more, but no. Not missing it much at all. Happy to have the extra time! Except for the fact that I added a couple more shows to my TV addiction. I'll have more to report once I decide my true opinion of them.

Chimney Project
I have yet to have the time to research and purchase a new small, digital camera from my recent win of a friendly bet with hubby.  But -- Mark. My. Words. I will get one. I won the bet, fair and square. If anyone is wondering...the project still isn't 100% complete. Not keeping score or anything, just stating the obvious. It's completely visible from the exterior of our house. No paint yet.

Checkbook
I joined the 21st century and decided to stop manually balancing my checkbook!! After being compared to an old lady at the grocery checkout line from a friend (ahem, Ted), I have not opened my trusty old checkbook ledger since the day I clicked publish on that dang post. I know, I was major old school, but habits are habits.

Sidenote! (I love me a random sidenote of news worthy info!)
Our friends Ted and Megan are at the hospital RIGHT now having their first baby girl! Such exciting news for a beautiful Friday. Congrats to them and new bundle of joy, Gracie!

Happy Friday everyone!!

Bittersweet

I can't believe what I am about to tell you...

For two reasons:
1. I'm a little embarrassed to admit it
2. I didn't think it would happen this quickly

I am giving up my soap opera. There, I said it.

Yep, I decided it's time to give up The Young and the Restless. I have watched this show for several years now, when my friends Beth and Smack got me hooked in college.

I was very loyal to Y&R in the beginning, when I had massive amounts of time to nap, watch TV, be a college student. You know how it is. Constantly watching episodes of Friends and Sex and the City on DVD, going out on a Tuesday night, living the life. I seemingly had a lot of time in college to fill my life with meaningless crap.  But great experiences I might add:)

Well, we had a brief separation when I first moved to Kansas City, but we reunited about a year ago. I have been extremely loyal since; DVRing the damn show every day and taking about 45 min. of my time to watch each and every episode.

It's a huge time commitment considering the many other shows it competes with in my DVR list.

Sometimes, I would have so many racked up in our DVR list, that it would take the majority of my weekend days to catch up.

So, as I pondered this pointless show and how much time I spend watching it, I decided it was definitely time to call it quits. I thought to myself, am I really supposed to watch this show for the rest of my life? It's been around since the early 70s.

My husband is especially excited. He would comment EVERY time I watched how stupid the show was and how horrible the actors were on it.

Bye bye Y&R. I might miss you, but I will enjoy my five extra hours per week. However, I will always wonder if Sharon and Nick ended up together? Did that crazy psycho Patti finally get her shit together? Did Lily survive cancer?

I will most likely think about this several times a week. Because that is how crazy I am. I will see something that reminds me of Y&R, and I will ponder what happened to these dramatic, pointless, unrealistic characters' lives.

It's sort of a problem for me. I always do this. I wish my mind didn't think this way, but I don't decide what pops into it.

For example, every time I am in a park setting now with lots of bug noises around me, I think of Larry Schnackenberg. The man who recently went missing here in KC. He was found in a park where he was hiding out for 3 weeks. I continually ponder to myself what he was thinking and doing out there for all that time. Or, when I see a car wreck, I remember the time that me and Brian and friends were driving back from Colorado in a severe ice storm, when we passed a car flipped over in oncoming traffic. I always wonder what happened to that family in the car and if they are ok today.

So here's to Y&R...may I always be bitter about not knowing the ending, but know it's a sweet trade for the extra time.

The Ugly Truth

I start sentences with the word "and". I use the word "like" when I talk. I sometimes have spastic outbursts where my husband asks 'who are you?'. I frequently dance when nobody is watching. I always over analyze and worry. I am extremely gullible. I'm not very laid back. I like to plan everything. I'm pretty blunt and will tell you what I think. And I do a lot of things that people might not understand.

I also watch reality TV.

Like, a lot of it.

It's the truth and I don't try to hide it. Honestly, there probably aren't too many reality TV shows I don't watch. I love the drama, the craziness, the crying, the fighting, the immaturity and everything else that comes with it.

I just can't help it. I can't pull myself away from watching these overly addictive programs.

So, I thought it would be appropriate to blog about the upcoming, newest reality TV show to hit your screen Aug. 9. I will definitely be watching.

It looks freakin' awesome!

The Bachelor Pad

Nineteen of the most unforgettable former contestants reunite in the Bachelor mansion to compete for $250,000 and perhaps a second chance at love (errr, yeah right).

Each week, they'll square off in head-to-head challenges to compete for immunity and the opportunity to go on a date with the contestant of their choice. The winner of the challenge will then grant immunity to one of his or her dates via the presentation of a rose (so original).

At the end of each episode, the contestants will vote amongst themselves to determine which cast members will be eliminated from the competition.

Multiple crazies are returning including Michelle from Jake's season and Wes from Jillian's season. There are also some other well-knowns including Jake himself (boo), the Weatherman, Tenley, Gia and Kipton, just to name a few.

I'm sure it will packed full of drama and excitement, excessive hook ups, emotional roller-coaster outbursts, backstabbing and let's not forget...falling in love.

Thanks ABC, just another one to add to the list.

SYTYCD

What could that possibly stand for?

hmmmm....

So You Think You Can Dance! Season 7!

I'm absolutely obsessed with this show and have been for years. I just can't help myself. I love seeing all the choreographed dances and becoming completely enthralled with my favs.

I really thought I would get sick of it after a few seasons. But, no, uh-uh. I still love it. Maybe it's because I was a cheerleader and dancer in high school? Who knows, I just love it!

Season 7 started just a few weeks ago with auditions and selection of the Top 11. It was supposed to be Top 10, but they couldn't narrow it down so it's 11. Auditions and the selection process are very similar to American Idol, so you can imagine some of the dancing that shows up on the stage. It used to be Top 20, but they have switched gears this season and are trying something new - Top 10 with dancers from previous seasons being their partners. Not sure how I feel about this yet; I think the votes could be swayed by the dancers from previous seasons. We'll see.

Right out of the gate, my favs are Lauren and Kent! I always like the young ones!

The first voting show starts tonight! 8/7c

This is also the very show that inspired my hubs and I to re-enactment one of the dance moves in our living room about a month before our wedding. Let's just say that our "lift-flip" move did not put us on the hot tamale train. It ended badly. Very badly.

Um, yeah, we're pretty much just plain stupid, but it's fun to laugh about now.

So here's the funny, yet very embarrassing story (some of you might be hearing this for the second time). My husband and I were jokingly talking about how funny it would be to do a "surprise" first dance at our wedding. Well, we actually ended up doing one (see video below), but at this time, it was all just pure talk and stupidity going on in our living room that day.

I say to Brian, "Wouldn't it be fun to do a surprise first dance at our wedding!?"
Brian: With a scared look, "Um, what kind of dance are you talking about?"

Me: "A fun one like they do on Rock the Reception." (another show I was hooked on for while - Tabitha and Napoleon who are choreographers on SYTYCD teach a dance to couples and wedding parties for the first dance)

Brian: Looking very scared...and saying nothing

Me: "We could do some fun moves and lifts like they do on SYTYCD. C'mon, let's try one real quick. It's easy. I'm going to jump up and backwards and you are just going to hold me at the waist and flip me over." (I was in gymnastics pretty much all my life and I used to do this exact move ALL the time in high school with a guy friend of mine who was an excellent swing dancer)

I jump up and back, when all of a sudden...

BAM. I eat carpet. Literally. And I feel paralyzed from the neck down. Not joking.

I am in such shock that I can't even speak. I just lay there stiff as a board. Brian is freaking out asking me if I'm ok. I literally landed directly on top of my head, my legs straight up in the air, forcing my head forward and down. Pretty much in a headstand position, but with no arms holding me up. My head and neck took the entire weight from the fall.

After the shock of pain goes a way a bit, I can barely move my head at all. Not left, not right, up or down without severe pain. I was seriously scared. I thought I would have to walk down the aisle looking like a robot and I was going to be paralyzed for the rest of my life.

Needless to say, I ended up at the doctor the next day and had to get an x-ray. Turns out, I just had severe bruising and swelling. No broken bones. I was prescribed Hydrocodene and muscle relaxers. However, I do feel like I have neck problems today because of this very incident.

I guess Brian didn't know what a "lift-flip" move was. And that he actually had to help me flip.

Moral of the story. NEVER try to re-enactment moves from SYTYCD. They are highly dangerous:)

Anyways, here's our infamous surprise first dance. I still can't believe we did it. My hubs was a great sport:) We couldn't hear the music at first so it starts off a little rocky.

Daydreamin'

So here's some random thoughts I have at this very moment.

I'm excited for...
The Bachelorette! New season starts tonight featuring a guy from my highschool. Although, I talked to him on fb and he goes home the first night:( I'm still so excited for the show. Loved Ali last season!

I'm proud of...
My dear friend Hännah! She just found out TODAY that she is not going to get laid off. This is due in large part to her dedication, hard work and loyalty. To give you a better idea of how wonderful she is, of the 35 non-tenured teachers at her school, only 3 didn't get laid off. She is a great person, teacher and friend. Truly an inspiration and one of the most genuine people I have the pleasure of knowing.

I'm dreaming about...
Mexico! Boy do I miss waking up with a mimosa or bloody mary in my hand!

I'm pleased with...
My motivation to work out lately. I'm totally not a morning person, and I have successfully transformed into a morning worker-outer!

I'm missing...
All my out-of-town friends. This photo doesn't even begin to encompass nearly everyone, but this picture is great. Too bad it's not from the Iguana Mirage night club.

I can't wait for...
My girls trip to NY in August!

I'm not looking forward to...
Cleaning the house. It's been before Mexico that I even touched the floors or dusted. Ewwwwwww, I know. We have an out of town friend staying with us on Thursday, so the cleaning must happen. Boo.

I'm thankful for...
My boys! I don't take enough opportunities to tell my hubby how much I appreciate him. So here's to you baby! Thanks for being the greatest friend, listener, confidant, snuggler, supporter and motivator a girl could ever ask for.

I'm craving...
Ice cream! Or a strawberry slush cream pie shake from Sonic! According to Hip2Save (link below), Sonic has buy one, get one free shakes until June 27! Haven't been to Sonic to try it out yet, but tonight might be the night!

Hip2Save Sonic Deal

I'm nutty about...
Blogging! Is it bad that many of my thoughts during they day are now followed by ways I can turn them into blog posts? Yes, that's sad! Geez...get a life!

Grey's Finale

How bout that Grey's Anatomy finale!? Wasn't it awesome!? I thoroughly enjoyed it while watching it with my girlfriends at Roback's house. We also made it a taco night.

ALERT! ALERT! Grey's SPOILER about to come. So if you haven't watched it yet, STOP reading!!

So every time that damn shooter would show up, we would all jump halfway across the room. Or somebody would scream. We were definitely those sissy girls that watched it while peeking through our hands. Well, some were watching it that way:) He was killing everyone!

Very intense episode, but I am SO glad that I can enjoy my summer without wondering if McDreamy is alive. Yay for Bad ASS Christina saving him. She is simply awesome. And thank goodness that Reed chick got popped. She was annoying. Sorry Reed fans, she just wasn't doing it for me. But really, I love that they ended the episode with no big what-ifs. I really thought they would end it leaving us to wonder all summer what happened. Thanks ABC for being kind to us.

I have to say, I'm a little sad that TV will be going away for the summer. I am a total TV junkie. I just love it. You name it, me and Brian probably watch it. I can't help it, I just really get into shows. I can't watch one show without watching the rest of the episodes because it would drive me crazy wondering what happened.

So long TV, I will miss you. At least I have The Bachelorette (I know it's corny, but I like it!) and So You Think You Can Dance to suffice me!!

Jake chooses Vienna...are you serious?

So, you all know my obsession with reality TV. Well, I hate to admit it, but yes - I watch The Bachelor. Go ahead and poke all the fun you want. C'mon, you all know you secretly watch it or keep up with it. LOL.

Anyways, Bachelor Jake was on the previous season of The Bachelorette and was the biggest softy ever. Well, I didn't really like him then, and I definitely didn't like him after his season. Just to be completely honest, I think he is a total tool. Enough about that.

His top two girls were completely different. Tenley - sweet, genuine, positive, the good girl and kind you bring home to meet mom. And Vienna - immature, caddy, conflict starter, the girl you make fun of... in a white trash kind of way. Sorry to anyone that may like Vienna, just giving my opinion:). But really? Jake said he didn't have a physical connection with Tenley. I'll let you be the judge.

Vienna, ugh

Tenley

Jake made the completely wrong decision. However, I feel Tenley could do much better than him anyways. And if it couldn't get much worse, they announced right after the show that he will be joining next season's Dancing With the Stars. He made a comment that learning to dance this way "has been his life's dream." He will be joining other celebs (yeah right) some of which include Pamela Anderson, football star Chad Ochocinco, 90210's (the original) Shannen Doherty, EPSN's Erin Andrews, and...

drumroll please...

Kate Gosselin! HA!

Don't I look just like her? :) I'm not sure that would be a good thing...

Halloween 2009. Check out that wig. Cut it myself and added highlights with shoe polish:) HA HA

Olympics

We have been spending our nights watching the Olympics and I just love it. The United States is currently in the lead, followed by Germany and Norway. Many random thoughts have gone through my head. Here are a few:

1.Why can't the girls land their tricks in the half pipe? The boys are so much more fun to watch. Pretty much how I feel about girls basketball too.
2. What's the difference between ice dancing and couple skating? Just the axle's and triple loop jumps? Seems pointless to me.
3. Freestyle skiing is really cool.
4. Do kids say to their parents growing up "Mommy/Daddy, I want to be a curler." I just don't see how one develops a desire to do this or gets into it!
5.  The Koreans are mean. All pushy and such in the speed skating. Get up off fool!
6. Does curling even require any athleticism?
7. How do you score in curling? :)
8. Feel the rhythm, feel the rhyme, get on up, it's bobsled time! Cool Runnings! Classic.

Electronics Frustration Solved

So, my husband FINALLY solved my problem of not understanding how to work the electronics. He purchased a universal remote that controls EVERYTHING! TV, receiver, cable box and blue ray player.

I'm not going to lie, I did complain about him having to buy another remote (we have six already), but it is the best invention ever made. You press one button for volume, channel, etc. (no switching back and forth between cable and audio) and if you get stuck and don't know what to push...there's a little digital screen that tells you what to do.

Want to watch a DVD? Want to listen to music? You just follow the directions on the screen, and Woila! It works!! No need to learn how to use it!

Does anyone watch Modern Family? Hilarious show. This post reminds me of an episode a few weeks ago where the mom, Claire, couldn't figure out the remote/electronics and got fed up and destroyed the remote by stomping on it.

I made Brian watch the episode. I think that's why he went and bought the remote. Aw, he felt for me. He now loves the show too.

Thank you to the rest of the female population for being as stupid as me when it comes to electronics.

I've inlcuded the link to the episode if you want to watch it. The electronics tantrum starts out right in the beginning.:)
