The Ugly Truth

Oh heyyyy. It's me blogging again already. Are you surprised?

Yeah, me too.

My baby has been so good lately that I have had more time to do domestic, house-wifey-type things.

Things like laundry, cooking, taking long walks, play time, organizing, and...taking down the Christmas lights.

Yeah, who wins the Wifey of the Year award? This girl.

I even had lunch with some girlfriends yesterday and had time to get in some shopping. It was superb. We are absolutely loving this weather.

So, shopping made me remember something I forgot to blog about. Although it's something I would prefer to forget.

This post should really be titled "The Truth Sucks."

Rewind to about 4 weeks ago. Brian and I were doing some last minute Christmas shopping and were in a hurry. He dropped me off at Crate and Barrel and headed over to Dick's with Carson. As I'm checking out at C&B, the cashier looks at me and says,

"When are you due?"

BAM!

Like a brick hitting me in the face.

After a few seconds of silence (I was in shock and embarrassed). I responded with, "Um, I had him 3 weeks ago."

Silence (from both parties).

Trust me, I wanted to hurdle that counter and go Teresa Guidice on her ass.

But I didn't. I smiled as she gave me a look of pity and apologized.

Moral of this story? Don't ever, I repeat, EVER ask a woman when she is due unless you absolutely, with 100% certainty know she is pregnant.

Lucky for that cashier, I wasn't just a gal with a few extra LBs or spare tire.

The truth and sucky part to this story? Your stomach doesn't return to normal right after popping out a kid. In fact, it takes a long time. At least for most.

But it's okay. I've come to terms with my muffin top for now. Thank god I can wear my fat girl jeans with the belly band and feel somewhat normal. The belly band sort of helps suck everything in.

This pregnancy stuff is life and body changing I tell ya. I'm convinced I will never wear a 2-piece again.

So, I didn't smack the bitch, but I wanted to.

In other news, sparkles are back in! I know they have always been somewhat in style, but I seemed to come across a lot more of them on my shopping outing.

I just love this sweater I got. Not too flattering for the belly, but I know with time, it will get better.

But this one does great things for the belly. Nice and loose fitting.

Love the pattern.

And I scored some jeans that actually fit me well for $19.95 at H&M. Can't beat that! No size reveal for you...ha!

I keep wondering when Kansas City is going to get winter weather. The large knit sweaters and Uggs are collecting some dust.

For now, I'll enjoy the amazing sunshine and my afternoon strolls with my baby. Only 5 more weeks until I go back to work. Not looking forward to that day. There will be monsoons and overflowing rivers. Being away from my little angel is going to be tough.

Although the truth can sometimes be ugly, life is sweet.

All Frills

Last weekend, I attended a baby shower for my dear friend, Adriane. She is due any day now and is having a sweet baby girl!

Her shower was full of pink, pink and more pink. And don't forget the tulle, fringe, frills and sequins. It definitely made me envious of all the cute girl stuff. Baby K is definitely going to have one stylish girlfriend to play with!

Mini cupcakes from Baby Cakes. I had three, and a cake ball. Yum-o.

Grace joined the girls to celebrate Baby Falco's soon-to-be arrival. She had fun playing with the tissue paper and gift bags. Love her little tushy!

Owls were extremely popular.

Look at those teeth!

She must have some K-State gear of course.

What are you looking at? Just leave me be and let me play with my gift bag:).

Congrats to Adriane and her baby girl! Can't wait to meet her!

Season Change Antsy

This weather is quite depressing. As soon as I thought the sunshine was here to stay, the weatherman reports snow is a comin'. Yep, more snow. It's not uncommon for it to snow in March in Kansas, but people were seeding and fertilizing their yards just last weekend!

Man is it frigid. I had to dig deep inside my closet to pull out my already put away heavy winter coat.

Will spring and sunshine please come back?

I'm much prettier in the Spring/Summer season. Let's face it, that's what a sun kissed tan and cute dresses do for you:).

I'm ready for the season to change. And I mean full-circle. Not just a few warm days here and there, I want the real thing, baby.

I've been ready for a few weeks. And so have my new dresses and open-toed heels that are anxiously awaiting to leave their hangers and storage boxes.

Love this little number. I have tried to wear it out a couple times already until Brian reminded me how ridiculous I would look wearing a dress this early. C'mon 80 degrees, I need you!

Don't the colors just scream summer? Found at one of my fave stores.

IMG_3503

This one is from Express. I'm typically not into floral prints or ruffles, but I really love this one. The floral is quite subtle and abstract. My kinda print.

IMG_3515

I plan to pair it with this nude belt and nude heels.

In other new finds, a pair of knock-off aviators and some new products I'm obsessed with.

I've been telling myself to drop the cash on a nice pair of Ray Bans or sunglasses, but I just can't do it. With as much as I break them, my cheap-o's will do. I picked these up last weekend for $10 at a little knock-off shop at Crown Center. I'm pleased with my purchase:)

Introducing my new friend, Lola. I'm in love.

IMG_3215

I took a chance on Lola, opting for her over my other go-to scent, Armani Diamonds. She was a good choice. Thanks to the recommendation from my brother's super stylish gf.

Another new find: Kenra blow dry spray. My hair stylist turned me on to this protectant spray. I'm hooked.

IMG_3237

Once you smell this stuff, you'll be hooked too.

My BF told me about this line of nail polish, Essie, now sold at Target. This color is Mink Muffs, a smoky plush taupe.

IMG_3531

LOVE the color, but didn't find it to go on as smooth as usual. Maybe it was user error:), I wasn't feeling too well yesterday. I think I'm still partial to OPI, but I'll definitely be trying other Essie colors.
