With multiple areas around the city that offer innovative, unique, delicious and affordable dining options, the list is endless.
This city is obviously no NYC aka the most glorious destination in the USA for dining, but we have lots of areas to choose from: Plaza, Downtown, The Northland, Midtown, Brookside/Waldo, West Bottoms, Legends and the ginormous ever-growing Johnson County.
We're doing pretty good if you ask me.
I've lived here nearly four years and my taste buds don't have much to show for it.
We go out to eat every once in awhile, but we rarely try new places. We always tend to flock to our favorite spots, where we order the same things we always order and know we will leave pleased.
There's nothing wrong with that, but I have this unbearable desire to venture out and experience all the dining Kansas City, the city we live in, has to offer.
It does help that I work downtown. My co-workers and I have discovered some pretty amazing eats.
Some of our favs are: Happy Gillis, Farm House, Lulu's, Grinders West, The Mixx, Ingredient, Cupini's, Blue Bird Bistro, Blue Koi, Cafe at Briarcliff, Filling Station, Bristol, La Monde, Gorozzo's, Grand Street Cafe, Classic Cup, Trezomare and Kona (for Happy Hour).
Now, that's quite the list, but can you believe my list of Restaurants to Try is just as long!?
It's because I can't keep up. The second I try a new place, two more open

Any that I should add? How about ones that aren't worth it? Please tell me. My wallet would appreciate it:)
First adventure in Operation Restaurant List - dunzo!
We crossed off Blanc Burgers + Bottles. I had heard great things about it and have been carrying around the Groupon since September. I even blogged about it here.
See...major suckage on trying new places...even with a Groupon.
This place was super tasty! A little pricey if you are looking to kick back a few beers, but the overall experience was totally worth it.
I ordered the turkey burger. Oh man. To. Die. For. And don't even get me started on the truffle fries displayed in the cute little shopping carts. Delish!
Tip: Don't sit next to your girlfriend and put your husbands on the opposite side of the table if you don't want the waitress to think they are a gay couple. Oh yeah, she asked if they were "together". It was hilarious.
Mmmmmm...now I'm hungry. I love food.

Ok so you just made me HUNGRY!! Obsessed with Blanc...Groupon needs to get their stuff together and put another one out there! I love working downtown now too b/c all of the amazing places. I will have to try out some that you have been too! I know it doesn't sound very classy but the Cigar Box has amazing grub and I have also heard that Majestic Steakhouse is the BEST steakhouse ever (I just purchased the groupon there) and also if you haven't ever been to J Gilberts...its DELISH! Ok can you tell I'm starving...longest comment ever!
I love Blue Koi, its one of my favorites in KC, what about Thai - any ideas there?
thanks for the list krista!! Since moving to kc we haven't eaten out much and if we do we stick to our "area". Ive been wanting to venture out but get overwhelmed with all the options! Thanks for narrowing it down a little for us, can't wait to try some of these!
I haven't been to Gaslight Grill yet, but there is a Groupon today!
As you know, Ted and I want to try a new restaurant every month, so if you ever need some company, we are in!
Oh I have some comments!
I would either cross off (or put to the bottom of your list)
Room 39
NoRth
Gaslight Grill (unless you buy the groupon)
Just my opinion, but the food just wasn't worth the price.
Now the ones that you have to go to (and invite me b/c I live close :)
RA - they have lots of other stuff besides sush. You have to go before 7 to get the amazing HH deals.
LaBodega- so so good!
Trezo Vino- Very good, but I prefer dinner there over lunch by a lot!
If you try Avenue Bistro, let me know how you like it. It took the spot of my fav restaurant ZEST and I'm still bitter about it.
P.S. The turkey burg is my fav at Blanc too!!
This made me hungry too! Thank goodness it's lunch time! I have a ton of comments about these too...
I agree with Callie - RA and LaBodega are awesome. I really want to try Trezo Vino.
Gina - The Majestic is awesome!
You can sort of mark Il Centro and Cafe Sebastinenne off your list - you had them both for my wedding :) Il Centro catered the rehearsal dinner and Cafe Sebastinenne catered the wedding. Regardless, I would recommend them both!
And you know Matt and I are always in to join you!

I know restaurant week here in NYC is a great way for us to try some restaurants we don't normally get to (or can't normally afford). They usually offer special prix fixe menus so check before you go that it includes something you'd actually like to eat :)
Hi Krista! I found you through Callie... love the blog! As for restaurants, if you liked Blanc you should really try BRGR in Prairie Village. Amazing!
Hi! I found your blog through Jamie's blog. I grew up in Wichita and graduated from K-State, and now live in Denver. Your restaurant list makes me miss KC terribly. I lived in KC after I graduated and still go back to visit family, but as they say, there's nothing like home.
Love your blog. My brother and sister-in-law just went to JJ's for her birthday and loved it. Can't be delicious contemporary American food.
