I had to get my oil changed this weekend. Something I hate getting done for two reasons.
1) My dad used to take care of it for me (along with all the car maintenance) up until I moved to KC, so I never had to worry about it. I now struggle to get it done within in a timely manner.
2) It's something I wished my hubs would take care of for me:).
Anyways, my reasons for hating the task is besides the point of this post.
So, I walk in mid-day Saturday to find that I have an hour wait. Luckily, I have a book in my car so I agree to wait it out in the lobby.
There's this guy that works the front desk, goes to Arizona State, who always comes back to work summers and breaks. I have seen him there several times. Well, he happened to be there this time and proceeded to talk my ear off about college life, partying, frats/sororities, etc. So here's a bit of our conversation.
Front Desk Kid: What year did you graduate from K-State?
Me: 2007. Five-year plan. What year are you?
Front Desk Kid: I will be a junior this coming semester. Do you know any of the Chi-O's that go there now?
Me: (Wondering how he knew I was a Chi-O, maybe I told him in a conversation last time I was here...hmmm) No, not really. Only my friends little sisters.
Front Desk Kid: Oh, well you're always wearing your letters when you come in here, so I thought you might be younger.
I absolutely cringe. Am I really that girl? The one who still wears all her old sorority t-shirts years beyond graduation and can't let go of her college years as a sorority girl? And a kid that works at the car service place is noticing?
Utter embarrassment. Absolute dread. I'm sure I turned bright, crimson red.
The truth is a little of both. Yes, I still wear all my old t-shirts. My sorority shirts are some of the most comfy shirts I own. But, it's not because I can't let go my college years and traipse around like a sorority girl! Trust me, I am way past that! Just like Big in the Sex and the City 2 movie, I enjoy sitting at home on my couch and doing nothing! Ha!
But seriously, I was totally mortified.
Maybe it's time for me to do a t-shirt clean up? Quilt?

Lol!! I still wear mine too... I try to pick around the ones with the large writting though. I don't want to buy 37 more t-shirts as replacements!
I think it's awesome you are still rocking them! Three of my neighbors are Chi-O alum from other schools, all older than us, and I've seen one of them still rocking their t-shirts too!
You guys might be saving my t-shirts from getting the boot. I'm just not sure I'm completely ready to let them go!
don't throw them away!! i wear mine all the time too, but like callie, i pick and choose which ones to wear in public. i spent a lot of money on those shirts and they are way to handy to get rid of. pretty funny that the college kid noticed thou :) it's only because he is still in school, no one else probably even notices your shirts.
I really just laughed out loud at that :) Save them for when you have kids, you can make them into burp cloths ;)
Burp cloths, huh? That's a great idea! Sarah, you might have to show me how to do that! I'm sure you have had some practice:)
I haven't ever made them but a friend of mine has :) I could get the pattern from her some time LOL! It's a good way to keep the memories going at least!!
